Vaughn Gard Fire April 16, 2005 Special Features Collection Owosso, Michigan Firefighters, along with 12 other local Fire departments fight a spectacular blaze in the city’s old commercial section. Owosso city firefighters have just picked-up from a 15 acre grass-brush fire when they they are dispatched to the Vaughn Gard building complex. The 100 year old buildings are “vacant”, and tinder dry. The fire starts in a 100 ‘ x 30 ‘ shed-style building, and quickly spreads to the exposure building along the interior roof line. Manpower and equipment shortages, along with other fires in the area, contribute to the rapid spread of this blaze to three other large buildings.
