FDIC Indianapolis, IN. 2005 This past April, I attended the FDIC convention at Indianapolis, Indiana and happened to pull out my newly acquired video camera to record the Hammond Pipes and Drum Band as they were going by me in the street. I followed them into Smokie Bones bar and recorded their act there. It turned out that there was a combination of different department bands playing together from place to place which included the Indy band and the Palm Beach County Fire Rescue's Pipe Band. It turned out to be a pretty wild night as I went from Smokie Bones to the Hooter's tent party and then the Claddagh Irish pub. I also visited the Indy party at their Museum / Union Hall / Memorial where there were hundreds of Firemen from all areas of the country and also some from other countries. I was told that over 35,000 Firemen attended the conference this year. I was touched by the emotional tunes played by the Pipes and Drum bands and also the displays of comradeship by the Brotherhood of Fire. If you get the opportunity, attend one of the conferences you will be amazed at the information and displays of equipment that are offered there. Don't forget to hoist a few with the men and women from the greatest job in the world. Previews
